Eyelash Aftercare Instructions

  • Please keep all oily products away from lashes. Oils will break down the bond of the adhesive which will break down the bond between lash and extensions.
  • Don’t “pet” with your lashes. Oil and dirt from your hands are unsanitary for the lashes.
  • If you have oily skin, you may not hold your extensions as long as most, especially if you have sagging eyelids.  Blotting the skin and using eyelid primers will greatly reduce the amount of loss.
  • When using eye creams, gently blot off any excess about 15 minutes after application.
  • Do not pick, pull or play with your lashes!
  • Keep your lashes clean!!! The extensions will last longer if you keep your mascara washed off every night and cleaning the lashes on a regular basis.
  • Do not cleanse your lashes with a washcloth, cotton rounds or cotton swabs.  They can get caught and pull out some of the extensions, and the cotton swabs and rounds can leave cotton fibers in your lashes.  Just use your fingers with the baby shampoo cleanser.
  • When brushing through lashes with mascara spoolie, spin through the lashes from the top and then gently brush up at the front, avoiding the base of the extensions.  Do not brush at the base, which may get caught and gradually pry them loose.
  • Do not use waterproof or extended wear mascaras, gel eyeliners, or any eyeliner in a pot or jar. They are very hard to remove and will weaken the bond of the adhesive. Liquid liner is best for those wearing extensions.

Eyelash Extentions Questions

What are semi-permanent eyelash extensions?
They are a single, naturally tapered, glossy synthetic lash attached to a single natural lash with a special adhesive.

How long do eyelash extensions last?
Natural lashes are constantly shedding and new ones are growing in their place.  Extensions will fall out along with your natural lash when it is at the end of its growth cycle.  As the new ones come in, they will need to have extensions applied to them.  With regular touch-ups your lash extensions can last indefinitely.

How often do I need touch-ups?
With proper care and maintenance, touch-ups are needed every 2-4 weeks to replace the lashes that have shed.

Does the procedure for lash extensions hurt?
The procedure is painless and quite relaxing; most fall asleep during the appointment time. When properly applied you should not feel the extensions at all.  They are lightweight and feel completely natural.  If you do feel anything, please call immediately to have them checked.  Also call immediately if you experience any swelling, itchiness or redness on the eyelids.  You may be allergic to the adhesive and need to have the eyelash extensions removed.

Will eyelash extensions damage my natural lashes?
When properly applied, they will not harm your natural lashes.  When improperly applied, they may be clumpy and there may be several natural lashes stuck together with the extensions.  This can cause pain and irritation because of the different growth rates and stages of each lash. This can also cause damage to your natural lashes and cause premature lash loss and follicle damage.  Applying lashes that are too long and/or too heavy for your natural lash to support will also cause premature lash loss, as well as thinning of the natural lashes and may result in “lazy lashes” natural lashes that grow downward or to the side instead of upward and straight.

Proper isolation, adhesive amount, extension weight and length for each natural lash are key to a safe and comfortable lash extension application.

How long does the procedure take?
The initial appointment it will depend on how many lashes you have applied, but typically will take anywhere from 1 to 2 hours (possibly up to 3 hours for Volume) and
includes a consultation.  Fills typically take 45 to 60 minutes depending on the fill booked.

Should I curl them?
There is no need to curl them.  The extensions have a beautiful curl already.  Do not use a mechanical lash curler, tint or perm them. Metal eyelash curlers will break the bond of the extensions to the natural lash and can also damage your natural lashes.

Can I wear mascara with them?
There really is no need to wear mascara.  The extensions will add length and volume to your lashes.  But if you must, you can wear water-based mascara on the tips of the extensions. Never use waterproof or extended-wear mascara on eyelash extensions.

Can I swim with them?
Yes, you can swim, exercise, sauna and spa.  Excessive exposure to heat, steam and water may weaken the bond of the adhesive and cause some of the
extensions to come off prematurely, or in some cases weaken the curl of the extensions.  Do not swim or sauna for 48 hours after application.  Avoid getting them wet for 24 hours after application. Prolonged exposure to chlorine from pools or hot tubs may reduce your retention.

What do I do if I want the eyelash extensions removed?
Do not pick or pull them off.  Do not attempt to remove them yourself.  You must have a trained professional remove them with a specially formulated adhesive remover. Pulling or picking the extensions off can result in the natural lash being pulled out or damaged.
